The average age of a car on the road in the United States today is over 14 years, and almost all of those vehicles have over 75,000 miles on them. That tells us two things – cars are lasting longer thanks to better designs and better build quality, and drivers hang onto them longer rather than invest in a new vehicle.

When you’ve got a big investment in your car or truck, it’s important to be sure that you’re taking it someplace where you know it’s going to get top-notch, professional service. You need to know it’s going to be in good hands and that any repair or maintenance work is going to be done right.

At Master Auto and Tire, we’re a member of the AAA family of auto repair shops. The AAA Approved Auto Repair (AAR) program was created over 35 years ago and is comprised of over 7,100 facilities across North America. That network includes dealerships, independents and specialty repair shops, general mechanical repair businesses, collision repair centers, auto glass businesses, service facilities and more.

An AAR shop has to meet some pretty stringent standards. As part of the application process, a representative from the AAA inspects the facility for cleanliness, proper equipment and tools, a good level of technical training and the appropriate certifications for technicians. They also perform a background check on the shop’s reputation with government and consumer agencies, as well as insurance and financial requirements. Customers are interviewed on their experiences with the shop and how well the business meets their service needs. After certification, the shop is followed up on quarterly, re-inspected on an annual basis and monitored for customer satisfaction in order to retain their AAR compliance.

Customers who use an AAR-certified shop are entitled to:

• Priority service when their car is towed in due to a breakdown
• Written estimates not to be exceeded by more than 10% without prior approval
• A 24-month/24,000-mile warranty (whichever comes first) on parts and labor under normal operating conditions
• A discount on retail price repairs
• A free maintenance inspection with other paid repairs (mechanical shops only)
• The return of replaced parts if requested in advance
• AAA assistance in resolving any repair disputes with the facility.
