Why do I own two vehicles that have nearly 200,000 miles on them?

Because, in my opinion, a new vehicle is the absolute worst investment anyone can ever make. Let’s look at some numbers. We will use a new vehicle with a $20,000 price tag as an example. First, as soon as you drive the vehicle off of the lot it becomes "used" and you take a $3,000.00 to $5,000 depreciation hit. Also, you probably would have to put at least $2,000.00 down for the transaction to occur. You’re starting to get upside down before you even get it home.

If you would finance the purchase at 8% over four years, payments would be $488.26 per month. Add to that typical full coverage insurance of $90 per month and you are at $600 per month or $7,200 per year cost of driving without any maintenance, tires, or gas. That equates to almost $29,000 for the four years until the vehicle is paid for.

To fully maximize your transportation dollar, you need to get 200,000 miles or more out of your vehicles! It can be done because today’s vehicles are built better than ever. Did you know your vehicle has more computing power than Neil Armstrong’s lunar landing spaceship did?

By doing the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance you will help to ensure the same level of reliability you have come to know and expect. The manufacturer creates detailed maintenance schedules outlining specific operations to be performed on various components and systems; these services prevent premature wear. Unfortunately, most manufacturers only provide the guidelines for the first 100,000 miles. Once your vehicle passes the 100,000-mile mark, it is time to have it thoroughly evaluated to determine the right maintenance course.

We at Master Auto Repair have ASE certified technicians, the latest computerized diagnostic equipment and a computerized automotive information system that provides detailed data for your vehicles by year, make and model. This ensures that repairs and maintenance of your vehicles are in complete compliance with the manufacturer warranty. Other information includes the latest service procedures, diagnostic information, and factory issued Technical Service Bulletins. The Bottom Line Is Efficient, Dependable, And Cost Effective Service For You. Working Together, We Can Add Years To The Life Of Your Car Or Truck!
